1. Before coming to Cannon Beach Micah seemed to have it all --- fame, money, influence, but he was still searching, because he'd buried his heart. Do you feel like your heart has been buried or lost? (Gal. 6:9) What things caused this? Are you trying to get it back? (Luke 19:10) If yes, how?

2. Throughout the novel God takes Micah into specific rooms --- to heal his wounds and set him free. (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18) If you could physically walk into the rooms in your own soul which room do you think God would lead you into first?

3. In his Seattle life Micah had gained the world, but sold his heart and soul to get it. Does being rich or famous appeal to you? Many people believe fame and/or fortune would bring them freedom? What do you think and why?

4. One of the pivotal scenes in Rooms is when Jesus heals the deep wounds Micah received from his father. (Jer. 30:17, Acts 28:27) What are the deep wounds that need healing inside you? What wounds would you like to be free of most?

5. For much of the book, Micah thinks the voice is himself. What times in your own life has the enemy of your heart has spoken to you through thoughts and impressions you thought were your own, but now realize were not? How can we discern who is speaking to our hearts?

6. One of the prime attacks Satan and his demons use against us is condemnation (Romans 8:1, Romans 8:31). When has condemnation touched your life? How can you combat Satan’s lies at times like that?

7. To paraphrase C.S. Lewis in The Screwtape Letters, we can go to one of two extremes with demons: Pretend they don't exist at all, or develop an unhealthy interest in demons and see them around every corner and under every bush (1 Peter 5:8). What is your take on the existence and possible activity of demons today?

8. It's not only the voice that speaks to Micah. God does as well through a distinct impression in his mind and/or heart. Jesus says in John "My sheep listen to my voice" (John 10:16 & 27). What does that mean to you? When was a time you felt God spoke to you?

9. One of the recurring themes in Rooms is freedom, a foundation of the Christian faith (John 8:2, 8:36, Gal. 5:1, II Corinthians 3:17), yet one that many followers of Jesus don't experience. If you struggle with this, what is the thing you'd like to be free of most? What do you think holds you back from true freedom?

10. In one of Archie's letters he quotes St Iranus saying, "The glory of God is man fully alive." What makes you come alive? Are you doing it? Why or why not?

11. When Micah parachutes out of the plane it is a huge risk, but it gives him the courage to risk taking a sabbatical from RimSoft, which ultimately sets him free. Is there anything you need to risk in order to follow God's call on your life? (Romans 14:23)

12. At the end of Rooms, Micah steps into his divine design as an artist. Do you think God has a specific destiny for you? If yes, what is it? Have you stepped into it? (II Thes. 1:11, II Peter 1:10, Eph. 4:1)

13. Hebrews 13:2 says some have entertained angels unaware. Acts 12:15, talking about Peter, says, "It's his angel." Do you think having an angel like Rick is possible? Do you think we all have angels? Why or why not?

14. From the moment Sarah first meets Micah, she knows he'll be part of her life. But she's scared because she knows he'll ultimately choose a path that takes him away from her. When was there a time in your own life that you had to step into something knowing it would cause you great pain?

15. Micah's choices send him down two very different paths. Are there any significant choices you're facing right now that could take you down a wonderful or horrible path? How do you know which is the right path to take? What specific steps are you taking to ensure you choose the right path?
