One of the women in my book club forwarded the following quote around, saying it was a great quote for any book club:

I have to agree with Andre - though these days he could have also added fashion to that list. But I digress. Seriously, how many times have you found yourself wondering how an author could have done this or that with a character or with an ending. And how many times have you found yourself wondering how Jane or Sue could have possibly LIKED that horrible book? (This is doubly true for love, by the way. You know you'll never understand what Martha sees in Frank, so don't even try.)*
But that's the beauty of the whole thing, isn't it? If you could come up with every idea or story on your own, why would you need books? And if everyone's opinion was just the same as yours, that would make for a pretty boring book club, not to mention a pretty boring life.
So, I say "Vive la difference", and please don't ever wear that ugly sweater again.
