The end of the year is quietly and quickly sneaking up on us and with it come all the lists of the best books of the year. From Amazon, to B&N to the NY Times, Publishers Weekly and USA Today - everyone's got a list. And they'll all be coming out between now and January. This is good news for us, my book club friends.
Of course we won't read them all - but they're a great resource when we're selecting our reads. So let me tell you about the list that might be my new favorite. Not limited to 10 or stretched to 100 - the MORE Magazine Best List (officially titled Books We Loved This Year) has a bunch of interesting and off beat reads. Some we've heard about already and some new suggestions.
The list has 44 titles including:
Generation A by Douglas Coupland
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender
Noah's Compass by Ann Tyler
Drenched by Marisa Matarazz
The Irresistible Henry House by Lisa Grunwald
and my next "must read"...
Broken by Karin Fossum
Here's the premise: "a woman wakes to find a line of people standing outside her house—characters from her unwritten novels anxiously waiting for her to tell their stories." Pretty intriguing, right?
