Earlier this week I had the opportunity to interview New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey as he tours for his new book, TEMPTED BY TROUBLE.
When I first saw the book I did the thing they say you're not supposed to do... I judged it by its cover. I think it was the color choice that had me thinking the book would be lighter than it was. Alas no. The book is like a tasty film noir that despite its modern day setting you can almost see in black and white as you read.
And dark... did I mention the book is dark? No rainbows and kitty cats here. Dickey deals with the current tough economic times and asks how far desperation can push good people.
Each of the characters were deeply drawn. They each made choices and had motivations that I believe could keep your book club talking for hours.
When I sat down to interview Eric we talked about his life, the plot and themes of the book and I also pulled some quotes from the book for him to comment on. I'll share a few of those quotes here:
