I promised more content from my experience a couple of weeks ago at BookExpo America. Well here it comes. One of the sessions I attended (moderated by our very own Carol Fitzgerald) was called Hot Book Club Titles: Fall 2010. Sounds right up our alley, no? It was 6 industry big wigs talking about their companies upcoming great reads for book groups. So, welcome to Part 1 of a 6 part series! The first speaker at the session was Michael Croy, Field Sales Director at Simon & Schuster, and these are the books he presented:
In today's post Cindy Hudson, guest blogger and author of BOOK BY BOOK: THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO CREATING MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CLUBS, talks about reading NORTH OF BEAUTIFUL and the all of the rich discussion the book brought out. What a great way to get young girls (and not so young ones) to talk openly about important issues.
Last week I shared a little bit of what I saw at the Editor's Buzz talk at BookExpo America. Well, guess what, there's more! These are the titles the editors from some of the major houses really believe in. The one's they believe will be the big books of the coming year. So since I know what to look for, I figure you should be in the loop too!
In today's post, guest blogger and author Mary Sharratt talks about the real life Bess Southerns, a woman accused of witchcraft in 1612, and how her new novel was inspired by Bess and the Lancashire Witches.
Bewitching History
A new novel by bestselling author Claire Cook is one of the signs that beach reading season has begun. Her seventh novel, SEVEN YEAR SWITCH is getting great write-ups in USA Today, The New York Times, and The New York Post. Today’s guest post discusses why your book club might occasionally want to take its show on the road.
Regular contributor Denise Neary and I have formed a mutual admiration society! Isn't it nice when that happens? She steps up whenever I need a hand here on the blog and comes up with some really interesting stories for all of us. In today's post, Denise shares her book club's experience with THE GLASS CASTLE - and then she gives me a little shout out at the end... thanks, Denise!
In today's post, regular contributor Jamie Layton share her Summer Reading List. Lots of great books to consider for your own list!
This week I've had the overwhelming and exilarating opportunity to be at BookExpo America in New York. This is my first time at the show and let me just say woooo hooo!!! This thing is like book lover's paradise. The only downside is there is so much great stuff going on at the same time and I have yet to figure out how to be 2 (or 3) places at once!
